Hot Spot information forewarns pilots and others operating in the movement area of the airport of confusing airport geometry and intersections. Please do not confuse the TPP Hot Spot pages with the A/FD Hot Spot pages. The TPP listing describes the location while the A/FD describes the location and provides additional cautionary information.
Jeppesen is a private company that makes many worldwide approach plates. Some pilots use Jeppesen plates, some don't. The plates included in SimPlates are NOT Jeppesen plates, but are mostly government-issued plates that have fundamentally the exact same data on them. Again, the plates included with SimPlates are generally real-world plates. And, of course, you need approach plates to be able to do this properly. There are other plate types in SimPlates, including SIDs/STARs (Standard Instrument Departures / Standard Terminal Arrivals) and Airport Diagrams. But IFR approach plates are available on the web, free! Yes, some are. Tutorial - How to interpret an approach plate 1. Introducion Every real life pilot, flying either a small prop or a heavy jetliner, have to be constantly using Approach Plates. Approach Plates are widely used in large airports: they are great way to ensure airplanes are.
The Terminal Procedures Publication (IAP) Change Notice is published to add any new or update any revised Instrument Approach Procedures (IAPs) to the TPPs during the second half of the 56 day airspace cycle. Included in the Terminal Procedures Publications are:
- Instrument Approach Procedure (IAP) Charts
- Departure Procedure (DP) Charts
- Standard Terminal Arrival (STAR) Charts
- Charted Visual Flight Procedures (CVFP)
- Airport Diagrams (AD)
IAP Charts are designed to provide an IFR descent from the enroute environment to a point where a safe landing can be made.
International Approach Plates
DP Charts are Air Traffic Control (ATC)-coded departure procedures which have been established at certain airports to simplify clearance delivery procedures.
STAR Charts are ATCcoded IFR arrival routes established for certain airports to simplify clearance delivery procedures.
CVFPs are an operational technique designed to move air traffic safely and expeditiously. In addition to conventional visual approach procedures, it has been necessary to specify routes/altitudes to enhance noise abatement at some locations. CVFPs have been developed to provide a pictorial display of these visual arrival routes.
Airport Diagrams are specifically designed to assist in the movement of ground traffic at locations with complex runway/taxiway configurations. Airport Diagrams can also be found in the back of the Airport/Facilities Directories.
